OCR Issues Reminder on Workstation Security
The Office of Civil Rights recently issued a memo outlining the importance of workstation security. This is great reminder that even in the
digital age, there are practical steps clinics can take to significantly improve HIPAA security and reduce the risk of a breach that involve minimal or no cost. Since you have construction ongoing, you may be able to incorporate some of the physical recommendations as you progress. The brief memo can be found here: https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/cybersecurity-newsletter-may-2018-workstation-security.pdf
Our office regularly counsels practices on matters pertaining to HIPAA compliance and security, as well as GDPR and other privacy and security regulations. If you have questions about best practices for managing privacy and security in your office, please give us a call.
